Instructor Leticia Nieto

March 6, 7, 2021

10:30am-3:30pm ET

ONLINE

This interactive workshop will invite moments of clarity and challenge around social justice. Through the body and personal story we will practice informing social change using Playback Theatre and informing Playback Theatre using anti-oppression lenses. We will oscillate between experience and analysis with a focus on building musculature for sustained engagement in social justice in our skills and performance work.

Prerequisite:  Core Training or practical knowledge of Playback Theatre is recommended.

This presentation will be based on the framework of anti-oppressive practices outlined in Dr. Nieto’s book, Beyond Inclusion, Beyond Empowerment.  It will be helpful to be familiar with the basic elements of the model through reading three articles available at this website (https://beyondinclusionbeyondempowerment.com/about-the-book/) Or you can purchase the eBook version of Beyond Inclusion, Beyond Empowerment for $20. Until the website is set up for the eBook, people who are interested can get a copy by contacting Garth Johnson at garth@cuetzpalin.com. He will reply with a paypal link people can use for payment, and provide a copy of the book.
